On-Campus Strategies
In this section of the Guide, we describe policies and interventions that can be implemented on-campus. To help college administrators decide which policies are best to implement on their campuses, we have sorted policies into three sections based on evidence of effectiveness: evidence-based, promising but little or mixed evidence of effectiveness, and ineffective if used in isolation.
Summary of ON-CAMPUS Strategies
Evidence-based
- Prohibit alcohol use on campus
- Restrict alcohol use at specific placers or events
- Ban alcohol sales as specific places and events
Promising but Little or Mixed Evidence of Effectiveness
- Restrict alcohol marketing
- Prohibit open beverages
- Mass media campaigns to reduce drinking-diving
Ineffective If Used In Isolation
- Ban or require registration of kegs
- Social norms campaigns
- Provide alcohol-free activities
