About the School
Located on a 50-acre campus in the historic district of Frederick, Md., Hood College is an independent, coeducational liberal arts college. Hood offers bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees in 31 major fields of study, 19 programs of study leading to master’s degrees, 11 post-baccalaureate certificate programs, and a doctoral program in organizational leadership. Hood is noted for its success in preparing students for careers and professions while providing a broad and rigorous liberal arts education.
Hood offers an honors program for selected students and a career development program, and its proximity to Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Fort Detrick provides numerous research and internship opportunities. Academic facilities feature a science and technology center with modern science and computing laboratories, an outstanding library and information center, advanced computing laboratories, a child education laboratory, an observatory and an advanced language laboratory. Five stately residence halls and three language residences give students the chance to learn together and create friendships that last a lifetime. Hood’s notably small class sizes, extraordinary faculty, outstanding student-to-faculty ratio and an attractive and friendly campus contribute to an exceptional learning experience.
